Sump plug valve type oil leak

Post by JPC1 »

Hi folks

I'm hoping someone can assist, I have a fairly heavy oil leak coming from the sump plug of my 1y diesel engine. A new plug didn't do the trick so I'm thinking it must be a problem with the threads on the sump itself.

Before I go off and get a new sump, I'm hoping someone might have clever ideas how I might stop this leak?

Plug is this type:

Thanks in advance!

With that type of plug it doesn't seal on the threads, but the chamfered bit on the end. There will be a corresponding chamfer in the hole on the sump. Maybe shine a torch in there and see if its damaged/scratched.
Time is a drug. Too much of it kills you
