Ya going to order a new filter today, as I have the van 5 years and I never changed it so it is definitely due  . So your fuel comes from the tank through the filter into the engine and then returns direct to the tank? I suppose I could just use a joiner and bypass the filter on the return as well. What is the benefit of that?

It avoids that return as a source of air ingress, apparently the valve is the cause sometimes.

Makes sense to get rid of any non necessary ingress area's. Something else for me to do. Just looking at ordering a new diesel filter there now. Image

Here is a picture of my current one. Would I be better replacing it with http://www.justkampers.com/1h0-127-401- ... -2003.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with a new thermo valve as well. Only thing is I don't know if my fuel is preheated. I cant see a heater connection for the tank so I imagine it isn't.

Or would I be better off going down the route of this filter http://www.justkampers.com/191-127-401- ... -1992.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and joining the return lines so it goes back direct to the tank. Would the pump be able for that without any upgrade?

The pre heating comes from the excess fuel that is warmed by the engine and is in the return line that goes to the thermovalve on the filter housing. I don't think that our winters are severe enough to need it personally - members in Finland most probably benefit from it though. I have never noticed any detrimental running in our winters with the non thermovalve 2 pipe filter.
Here is Brickwerks offering - a 1/3rd of the price of Just Krappers. You can trust their quality.

The one from JK for 4 pipes looks as though it doesn't come with the thermovalve either.
The less joins in the fuel lines the better for both air leaks and fuel leaks and ensuring that the hose is a tight fit before the correct hose clips are tightened all helps.
