Drain plug woes

Just about to set off on my hols just over a week ago and decided to drill & re-tap my oil sump as it started leaking badly. Anyway, unbeknownst to me (and after I got to work on it with the drill) the hole already has an insert (not helicoil). The insert was slightly loose but wouldn't completely come out and only turns a couple of threads. Anyway, the only solution at the time was to to seal the damn thing with araldite. The plug is the original M14 and I managed to get it back in as I hadn't damaged the thread too much. I didn't put any araldite on the thread, just stuffed it in the gap between the plug and the circular recess. It held out fine for a 600 mile trip so, my question I guess is this: Given the plug will probably come out with a bit of argie bargie, should I try to remove the insert and attempt a repair or leave the plug araldited in & use a pump for future oil changes. I don't know what sort of insert is in there but it could be the type with a lip on the top. Not sure what to do next as I don't want to completely knacker it up. Cheers for any advice..

Araldite peobably won't last
I lost my sump plug on the motorway once it took seconds for the oil to drain out

Leaving it is not an option imo

I'd get a professional to look at it
you would need to see it up close with plug out to give any comment

Will do, thanks. I suspect getting an insert out that has a lip on it could be quite a challenge.
