Disconnected wires

Post by DibDub »

Hi can anyone tell me what these disconnected wires in my engine bay are for please?
I'm guessing the brown one is an earth but where is the live supposed to go?
The green and yellow ones were hanging down near the front facing temp sensor.

The brown wire goes to the 0.9 psi oil pressure switch next to the crank pulley.
There should be another brown wire to the 0.3 psi oil pressure switch between #3 & #4 cylinder behind the pushrod tube protection tin
Both these wires connect to the junction box via a two pin plug (handed) the brown wires change to ye/gr and gr wires.
The plug is handed so the circuits are not accidentally mis connected
You appear to have lost your plug and aftermarket connectors fitted.

Thank you for your reply.

How would I go about fitting the plug and removing the after market connectors?

You'll need a second hand one and splice it in with a soldering iron, to the existing wiring.
Or go the whole hog and get the complete used loom from a breaker.
I generally pick this sort of used stuff up from VW shows.

I don't often hear of shows near me sadly.
What is the name of the loom I'm looking for? I'll post in the wanted section.
If you happen to see one on your travels I will gladly pay you for it, pay P&P and also give you some beer money to say thanks :ok

There's nothing wrong with using the aftermarket connectors.
As long as they are covered and cannot short.

The yellow wire should connect to the brown wire going to the switch near the pulley
The blue/ black wire should connect to the brown wire going to the switch in between #3 & #4 under the engine.
