Something missing?

Since this place is such a fountain of knowledge I am hopeful to find an answer to this here.Just under the van looking for something else and noticed on both arms there is a space where I could put a bolt. I don't have any issues with my suspension so I am just curious as to is this purely a space for a different type of mounting of the arm or is it where there should be some bushing or something?

For what it's worth, it's the same on my van, just an empty hole. There's probably an excellent reason for it to be there though... :)

Lol cheers for the response, that's comforting to know. Just found an exploded view of it on https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/type25- ... sion/rear/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and they don't seem to have a bolt or anything in there either. Hmm maybe just a mystery hole lol

That's the hole for helping adjust the wheel alignment. You loosen the trailing arm bolts and you stick a screwdriver through that hole to use as a lever to adjust the position of the trailing arms.
