Gear Selection - Clutch Slave
Hi Guys.... I had so much help on my last post thought I'd ask for help again... this has got me demented. I've read lots of threads on here but none that have helped so here I go...!!
Month or so ago I got in the T25 and had no clutch.. found a leak from the slave cylinder on the gear box. ordered one from ebay (about 20 quid - repo part) however managed to break the fluid pipe that goes to it so got a local company to make one up... which is rubber and not the ridgit plastic like the one that come off. fitted them both and bled the clutch as normal but still struggled to get gear. thought that there must be air in it so purchased a bleed kit.. the type that attaches to your spare wheel to get the pressure... again bled the clutch more than once but still finding it hard to get gears... double clutching between changing helps but finding it a nightmare.
My question is... should I have bought a German part..better quality or do you think it's the rubber pipe causing the issue.????
I have gone through a canny bit of fluid whilest bleeding. There is defo no leaks and the fluid coming out of the bleed nipple is clear and clean with no air bubbles.
Any ideas/help would be brill.. been on holiday this week and was planning to go out in it but this has stopped us making any plans... the missus is wanting me to get rid but I aint having that...lol..
Thanks again. Paul

Re: Gear Selection - Clutch Slave
I'll bet its the pipe. Would have been better with a copper pipe than rubber over that length.

Yes the cheap slave off ebay wasn't so cheap when you see that price.pgra0909 wrote:The link just takes me to the clutch slave.. it's the pipe i'm after. Any ideas...? Thanks again.
An OEM slave is £60.
Changing a clutch slave is a faff you can do without.
You get what you pay for I suppose.

Re: Gear Selection - Clutch Slave
Right guys... I used the link and purchased the clutch pipe and connections then bought a new slave (German) just fitted it all today and the gear selection is perfect.. seems so smooth and every gear just works as is should...
A big thanks for the advice and links... just wish I had asked the question before I went out and bought the first thing I saw.
Once again you guys on here have made me a happy T25 owner.

Re: Gear Selection - Clutch Slave
My last clutch slave was sub-20 quid and its been fine. Likewise many other parts. The only thing I don't cut corners on is CV joints. I imagine the pipe was expanding and therefore robbing the slave of pressure. Well done for sorting it yourself.
