Hi
Can a DG 1.9 engine be replaced by a 2.1 Fuel Injected Engine reasonably easy, or does it require a lot of modification.
Thanks
Cyprus Dave

Re: DG 1.9 Engine
Yes it can quite a few of us have done this.
I used the carb & manifold from the DG, so it was even easier.
If you want to replace it with a fuel injected set up, then ideally you'll need to swap the tank and fit a fuel pump.
Assuming your doner engine comes with the airbox and all the injection loom, ECU, idle stabiliser, etc
I am currently about to do all this.

Re: DG 1.9 Engine
Thanks for the reply Kev, just picked it up, no internet for a few days.
More modifications than I imagined ( bearing in mind the additional challenge of getting replacement parts from UK to CY)
Think I will wait for a good DG replacement to become available.

Dave - I think you may have misunderstood Kev. If you unbolt all the fuel injection hardware from a 2.1, underneath it's the same as a 1.9DG (externally). So you can swap your carburettor and manifold over onto the 2.1 to get it running. Even the vintage of your cooling system doesn't matter (early versus late) since all the bits will bolt on to either engine.
If you've got a lead on a 2.1 it would be a worthwhile upgrade - no need to wait for a 1.9.

Agreed = all the bits off your DG will fit a 2.1, no need to re-jet the carb or anything complicated like thatCJH wrote:If you've got a lead on a 2.1 it would be a worthwhile upgrade - no need to wait for a 1.9.
