fuel reaching pump but not coming out

So far new pump from brickwerks and new rod and flange. Sucking on pipe which goes into pump there's fuel. Its not coming out on the other side which leads to the carb. When I suck on the exit pipe I can hear bubbles.


I've fitted the pipe from the coming from the petrol tank coming into the pump the same way as the arrow on the pump(top right brass inlet).

When I'm priming the carb should I put fuel in both chambers?


It's got to be something simple!

Just chuck it in the primary, the secondary won't open until you are on the road giving it some beans.

Pierburg oem pump is in at top out at bottom.

1. Must have taken the pump apart when I first got it weeks ago and reassembled wrong! Mullering the filter, I hope I can get a new one as a separate.

2. Rod had nearly 2mm worn off

3. Lastly and it took me hours to spot that a flap had appeared inside a opening of a fuel pipe and a small hole further down.

4. I've sucked on the fuel pipes so much that I'm burping petrol.

5. I get to use it over the bank holiday and can cancel my garage appointment for Tuesday and and for the first time ever it idles on petrol at traffic lights without feeling like it wants to cut out.

Perfect last night. Chugging and backfires on petrol. Would fitting a new pump make it run rich or is it likely tone another air leak

Right turns out there was more to it. The float wasn't working properly so petrol wasn't going back to the tank but was overfilling carb.

It is very hard to blow into the pipe that returns to the fuel tank. Is that normal?

Try removing the full filler cap? Just a thought...
