Hi guys,
Turns out my 1.7 d KY engine has cracks along the head and the cylinder bores and pistons are scored, along with a few other issues. So it's looking like the most economical option is to purchase a recon engine, they only seem to be supplied as long blocks.
Has anyone had any previous experience with cool air vw specialists? I've ordered parts from them and they seem good but always interested to see if anyone has any further info about their recon engines before I take the plunge?

I'm more keen to just keep the set up I have because it gets good mpg and it works well rather than chancing a second hand, different engine with all the associated problems with changing the engine.
Thanks all!

From the TESKY part number I imagine it is one from The Engine Shop in Erith.

Ok that's interesting to know thanks, any experience of that company at all?
I have contacted elite engines and they do one for £1295 + delivery but i've read quite a lot of mixed reviews about them!

Yeah that's the kind of reviews I've been reading about elite
It's all a bit of a gamble at the end of the day because you just don't know what they've replaced until it's already broken again
