What are these plugs?

It looks like something should go in between the terminals otherwise I can't see how any connection is made. Do I need a big ass fuse or something?

Looks like an inline fuse holder for ceramic fuses.

Looks like a fuse holder to me too, I have a similar one in my little black box on my 1.6NA diesel. What colour wires are attached to it?

On mine (84 1.9 dg) it's the reversing switch fuse, should be a 8 amp in there.
