Oil Pressure Light?

Post by AlandAnn »

While driving along the main roads at normal speeds everything is fine,
however when I have to drive slower in heavy traffic my oil pressure light starts flashing and continues until I pick up speed again.

I've checked my oil level and it seems fine  should I be worried or is this just a VW thing? like my oil leak

You have low oil pressure.
- Things not worth doing because they won't solve the problem; replace the oil, filter, fit a bigger oil pump or replace the oil pump (pumps don't make pressure).
+ Things to do, buy an oil pressure gauge & report back with pictures or a little video on what you see, idle will do, hot or cold engine.

Oil Change about 4 months ago 10w40 Mineral.

I'll look into buying an oil pressure gauge whatever that is.

Thanks

It will tell us if you 'really' have low oil pressure or just a faulty switch. Unscrew your oil pressure switch here:

I have an oil pressure gauge you could borrow, it has always told me what I didn't want to know after hoping there was a simple solution.
As above change to the recommended grade of oil and cross you're fingers.

Thanks, MOT on Friday then oil change, then rewire alternator, then think I'll start my paint job, then back to work on Monday [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] the only down time is when I'm at work.

Thanks for the offer, I'll wait for my MOT results  and give you a call. Might need a quote for some welding
