2ltr gearbox code

Post by camper »

Keith can you tell me the gearbox code number for a 2ltr gearbox.Parted company with the devon Aircooled .Joined the dark side of the force now have a 1.6td .I want to change the 1.6 4 speed gearbox for a 2ltr gearbox .It would be handy to check the code if i am lucky to get a good gearbox.

box codes

Sorry for delay - away on hols
2 litre box code is DK - there's some info on Si Baxters site I think - including ratios. The DK box has taller ratios - will the Diesel lump push it ok?

Keith hope you enjoyed your holiday. Thanks for the reply.I managed to get a 2ltr gearbox yes it it was a DK.Regards to will the 1.6Td push it .Here is my answer .I converted a 1.6n diesel bus to camper a while back. The engine was a bit dodgy so i had a recon put in .The van to me seemed to rev a lot at about 55/60 at the same time the recon was put in i exchanged the gearbox against a petrol 2ltr.The reconditioners did the normal and changed the input shaft and housing to fit the 1.6d.I had no problems with the pull 1st 2nd 3rd felt the same 4th was great on the motorway it dropped the revs and easy and comfortable driving on the inside lane at a steady 60mph.fuel consumption was brilliant .Some may disagree and say it was to higher geared. Looking at the gearbox codes against ABH & DK its the final drive on the 2ltr that is a lower figure and 4th is slightly higher.I am converting a 1.6td flat top bare H reg transporter to camper that has a M11 1.6 td golf engine managed to get a good 2ltr gearbox code DK.Couple of probs injection sits a bit high so will modify the engine cover and a oil leak off the rear of the sump.I am suspecting a crack due to incorrect tightning procedure sump and gearbox bolts.Or it may be to much end float crank shaft /oil seal.I did ask for advice on hear about how much end float there should be but no replies as yet.Cheers
