Bodywork restoration Merseyside or northwest
we are based in Liverpool and would like some help with repairing a suspected leak around the windscreen of our van. We would love to do it ourselves but with limited time and facilities and time we were hoping to find a local vw enrhusiast garage who could help us out with fixing this, +/- undersealing the van and sealing the petrol tank. I am only suspecting the windscreen leak from finding a puddle in the passenger seatwell but from reading the wiki pages here I think the windscreen is the likely culprit & that the problem will only get from bad to worse in the time we take to try and fix it, so just want to make sure we find someone who will do a good job, if anyone is in the know!
Thanks for you help

Evening, a few people I know or people I know who have used them, http://www.muddyfields-campervans.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , http://www.garage87.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , Jim Painter 07854516387, I'm sure more will be added.
Bung up some pics of the offending areas and those in the know will point you in the right direction.

Great thanks, thanks for the links we will look them up. Trusting this kind of thing to someone else always feels like a bit of a leap of faith but we are just really stuck on time at the moment & dreading it all getting worse while we sit on it. Cheers!

well this is about usual but not exceptional for the screen
http://archive.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic ... 8&t=131607" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and fuel tank out is normal but other stuff is found as in the hoses perished etc, often a new tank as i wont repair them as rot in one area is not isolated

Re: Bodywork restoration Merseyside or northwest
Here are some photos showing the rust in the footwell (below the puddle of water) and the current seal around the windscreen. It looks fine and there are no obvious leaks but from reading the wiki pages it seems there is likely to be a leak underneath and as we bought the van unmodified I doubt this has ever been looked at before.
In terms of the underseal the van looks ok underneath for now and I think it is something we will get done after we come back from france in July.
There isn't a problem with the fuel tank at the moment but it is just something our garage recommends we get done at some point but again it is something we can look get done later +/- new fuel tank if needed.
Thanks again for all your help

Jim Painter has got our van at the moment, he's at the tail end following a full bodywork resto.
PM me or evilnoodle your email and I'll send you few pics of his work (I'm out from about 5pm tonight), we think it's looking good, he's also a really nice genuine fella.

Re: Bodywork restoration Merseyside or northwest
We never made it to the meet on Thursday but had planned to go to the next one... Only problem is we set off for a trip to the lakes last night and our engine blew out on the motorway! Hence trip home on truck and now van none functional in our street. It looks like something has come loose in the engine (e.g piston) and blown a hole through the engine body. We heard an awful rattle then saw smoke and pulled over immediately. Looks like the engine will need replacing.
We are currently looking through other forum posts and I will start a new thread but does anyone have any idea where we can source a new engine ASAP in northwest? We are getting it towed to our local garage Monday & we are hoping they will fit it but can take it elsewhere if needed, just need it done somehow before our trip to France mid June. Any advice/ help much appreciated, thanks!
