Hope thats the end of your woes, seems like you have a whole new van with the number of new parts and testing, good luck with it

Cheers Ant, it'll always be playing on my mind but I've now built up so many spares I'm hoping that I'll have enough should anything happen!! I've got a 4 hour drive down to Dorset this time next month so will be a good test!
How's yours going?

Yes my bus is going fine (touch wood) my idle/stalling issue has gone but I ended up replacing a lot of the ignition system but its running well and starts first time

Glad she's all up & running - did you narrow it down to anything specific?!

Re: Backfire issue sorted (hopefully)!
When I first had my van it would randomly loose power stutter and falter only to recover again, on a trip through Wales somewhere around snowdonia it started doing it regularly I had no choice but to keep trying different things, it may be a coincidence but after spraying wd40 in the base of the distributor it never failed again.
I can only assume the spring loaded weights were getting stuck.

Yes i think it was probably one of the vac hoses for the tick over and a new coil seemed to sort out the stalling. Several other ignition parts replaced though so can't be 100% sure...
