Sliding Door Won't Open From Inside

Post by Merrsh1 »

Evening All

A title really. My sliding door opens absolutely fine with a very satisfactory click and clunk from outside the vehicle - but from inside nothing.

When I operate the small handle inside it clicks but its range of motion doesn't seem to be the same as that from outside the van. Outside its almost 45 degrees (click) to 85 degrees (clunk). Internally its 45 degrees (click) to 60 degrees (bugger all) and doesn't 'push the door' - if that makes sense?

Before I start dismantling things I thought I'd ask here in case its a simple fix. I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious but Internet searches return nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers!

when you operate the internal handle , how much movement before you "feel" something is happening,
anyway just whip the door card of and nyou will usually find the cable or rod dependent on year is loose /out of adjustment

Okey dokey. The internal handle just causes the lock to click and that's it. I'll remove the door card and have a fidle and report back.

Will do. It'll be tomorrow. Over indulged last night and woken by toddler at 5am :(

Couldn't be trusted to operate a tin opener at the moment.

Pics of the door... Slight update too...

When turning the internal handle there is no more give and I reach 'full lock' straight away. I'm guessing there is something missing / not connected inside. Having never seen another T25 door function I'm not 100% sure what should happen when turning the internal handle (apart from the door opening obviously!)

I'm also guessing the rather saggy cable needs tightening?

Cheers for coming back :D

Child lock? At the risk of looking a complete banana where is that?

I'm assuming you don't mean the little black toggle switch bottom right of the handle?

:ok

Hah,your not a nana, theres lots of oddities in these bans including the drivers,
If you look at the last picky on T3buses thread you will see a small lever on the front shut face. This is the brat lock, incidently the small knob you speak of.,does it stay up or always drop down

I had a look at the door this morning and I'm sure my van doesn't have that switch. I'll check tonight again though.

The little black knob can be toggled up or down and will stay in place. I'm guessing that's a good thing!

The child lock is not obvious. its a small slit near the toggle that slides up and down on the closing face of the door. In it is a small leaver that you can slide up or down. I fear yours may have accidentally moved to the wrong location

Morning

Checked mine last night and unfortunately the cavity is there but no little switch.

I'm guessing its either snapped or dropped down inside. I'm guessing snapped as shining a torch inside shows no sign of anything 'switchy'.

Just one more thing to add to the litany of things the previous owner forgot to mention was wrong with the van.

Bugger.

Well in the hope my stupidity can become someone elses wisdom...

Turns out the previous owner had the internal handle on horizontally when it should be vertical.

Only realised last night when I read an old owners manual.

Door now working perfectly!

Lesson learned!
