Non VW Electrical Question

The missus wants to buy a new kettle she found on Flea bay that comes from Germany. The plug is the EU design and not UK 3 prong.
Is there any reason why i couldn't cut off the EU 2 prong and fit a UK 3 prong?
I don't want to use the travel adaptor that they supply as i can't believe using that long term can be good.
Is there any other adaptors or solutions? Electrics is not a strong point of mine.

So long as its designed to run at 230v (which in europe it would be)
Cut the euro plug off and fit UK one.

Cheers for that. Is there a dedicated positive and negative wire on EU plugs? What wire would be positive and negative or does it matter?

Bearing in mind the appearance of counterfeit and non-regulated products in the system it would be wise to ensure that the device was actually designed and constructed as a double insulated device i.e. that it is both electrically isolated in terms of the electrical wiring and components and that the outside is non-conducting in terms of short circuit etc. The following seems to explain the theory: http://www.double-insulated.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There are other sites.
Having both C&G qualifications together with my UoL degree I feel that our three plug and socket system is superior when presented with three kilowatt kitchen appliances in particular. My view only.

Not true, that's just a myth.

Dead easy to rewire - a few years back we all had to do this ourselves as all appliances came without plugs fitted.

German one probably has three core cable anyway and if recent the colours will match ours too thanks to EU harmonisation.

So if you're not yet familiar with our colours it is green/yellow for earth, brown is live , and blue for neutral.

Above is as you mentioned the kettle was new. Now if it was a very old one be careful as I have a feeling they used red or something for earth years ago when in those olden days British flex leads would have been red for live.
