Welding brackets for 3 point seat belt

Post by mariner »

Hi guys

Have just bought myself a new van :D having moved on from my much loved 2ltr air-cooled

The new van needs a three point belt in the back for the kids. Took one I'd purchased off just kampers to the garage today and after inspection they've said it can't currently be fitted as the van is a van conversion and has no fixing points.

Is anyone able to tell me which fixing brackets might be best to weld/bolt in and where I could get them from?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Can find a thread from 2013 but nothing more recent. Does anyone know if the mounts available from Just Kampers are any good for this? Cheers

Get them cut out of a scrapper, they are plates with nuts welded on and fit behind inner panels on factory window type vans.

well , if no fixing there then take your new mounting and place it where you would like it to fit and mark a hole through to the van and also draw round the plate, next drill a 1/2" hole through for the belt bolt to fix, next drill 4x 8mm holes through the van within the drawn area, now you simply removed outer vent (2 screws) have one person hold plate in positioin whilst you do upo the belt anchorage bolt it will now be secure and asuming you have rotated it right then you can simply puddle weld through from the inside into the anchor plate , quick, clean very secure and zero skill needed , and you could even use 4 x 4.5mm + pop rivits as it would never pull through the hole.,
i will have to make one and do a photo run of the job as they are so easy

I can send a picture later on, if no one else does in the mean time. There are pictures on here somewhere though. Maybe the wiki?

Here you can see 2 points for the lower part of the belt to fix to. The bloke welding said he would fix 2 so I could decided which one to use. I have seen the one fixed to the inner skin but he recommend a stronger fixing on the bulk head. I ended up using the bulk head fixing.
