Heavy duty vinyl
Hi I'm looking into stripping and recovering my cupboards in my camper, I've seen this stuff on https://www.vinyldepot.co.uk/extra-stro ... range.html has anyone used that type of thing or got any suggestions of what I can use, the vans in having resto work done and a nice new coat of paint so I want to make the inside look a little newer when she comes back.
Thanks for your help
Chris

Re: Heavy duty vinyl
I used a similar product (Maple- type vinyl) when I did this to the furniture on my Holdsworth villa van. It really freshened the look of the furniture in it without costing a fortune too. I also fitted new handles etc so it looked very modern.
You might want to think about a couple of things though, one being it's a good idea to strip the furniture out of the van so as to avoid any gaps due to shrinkage over time etc, and throughly degrease and lightly sand the old surfaces so the new vinyl can stick on nicely. I vacuumed my surfaces too as any little bits on the old surfaces will show through
Well worth it in my opinion.

Re: Heavy duty vinyl
That looks great big herb!
Restoman (on here) has my van sorting her out at the moment, I've stripped her inside out and it's all in my garage waiting for me to clean it all up. So should be easier to strip all the old covering off sand it down and start again.
Big herb is the glue on the vinyl strong enough or would it be better add some spray glue to help it stick?
Cheers guys
Chris

Very strong, the smoother/less porous the surface you stick it onto the better the bond.ChrisTriple wrote:

Re: Heavy duty vinyl
Sand it down then and maybe a thin coat of varnish

Here's a link to pictures so far
https://t25camper.com/the-resto/
I've had a quick play with the new vinyl covering and unless it's 100% smooth it shows every lump and bump, so a lot more varnish and sanding required before I recover the units
