Re: Melting thermostat housing...
that exhaust flange is not fully welded on the outside, I wonder if it's fully welded on the otherside?
if not perhaps it could blow from there?

Looks like a stainless, I'm sure they're only tacked on the outside.
Mine is.
Full weld on the mating face.
Maybe the flange is oversize?

Re: Melting thermostat housing...
why was the exhaust changed?
could the melting have happened before, and you didn't notice? It's only a small point.
my old exhaust went there because the thermo housing leaked onto it ( warped from years of heat) and it rusted through.

Re: Melting thermostat housing...
It is just tacked on the outside and seam welded inside so no sealing issues:)itchyfeet wrote:that exhaust flange is not fully welded on the outside, I wonder if it's fully welded on the otherside?

I wouldn't know how to tell. What makes you think that?kevtherev wrote:Looks like a stainless, I'm sure they're only tacked on the outside.

I needed to replace the lambda sensor. There was so much rot it seemed the easiest option to replace the whole system...itchyfeet wrote:why was the exhaust changed?
