Gear selector fork repair

Post by garyd »

Just seeking some advice from anyone who has fitted the fork repair kit to a 4-speed or syncro gear linkage.

I have the repair kit to fit and haven't yet dismantled the rod from the bottom of the gear stick. However, it is not yet obvious which of the two 'plastic' parts goes on which fork end. The old fork tips are so worn that they are no help in deciding. The kit instructions don't advise on this point.

Is it a case of 'they only fit one way round' or is there some other way of telling?

thanks

Small one on the right for reverse/G, large one on the left.
They only fit one way because the legs on the metal fork are different sizes.
I designed and make them too ;)

Thanks Ian. I suspected that the lack of instruction meant it would be obvious once I got in there.

Now fitted. Orientation is obvious and whole process very easy once you have the selector tube out and cleaned so that you can see what's what.
