1.9td t25 wont start properly - mixed diagnoses! !

Post by Liz_limpet »

CHi all,
I have had my van for about 6 months. Suddenly (after my immobiliser was cut out quite unceremoniously) it now doesn't start on the button like before. It turns over for about 15 seconds then starts.

It isnt the glow plugs as they were recently changed. And he's checked to make sure no air getting in (this is what i thought the problem was).

My garage has had it for about 10 days and the mechanic thinks that my diesel fuel injector pump is shot and it needs a new one/reconditioned one. I have been quoted £650 for this which seems steep!

Speaking with other garage (in trying to locate a part) they state that it is very unlikely to be the pump...we are taking the van away in a few weeks for a long journey and don't know what to do!!!

Any advice? ?!

Thanks,
Liz

If it's only done it since the immobiliser was removed then it could well be a wiring issue, the quickest way to tell would be to connect a jumper wire from battery + to the stop solenoid and see how it starts.
Is there any smoke when it does finally start?
Does it do this when hot and cold?
