Front lower control arm bush

Post by CovKid »

Going to replace mine this year. Whats the easiest way to change them? Got the bushes (split poly ones) but as I've never had to do those, is it a case of putting a jack under it, removing bolt then lowering arm enough to swap out bush or is that not possible?

Original bushes are a press assembly item, they are same design as rear swingarm bush. Leaving the spring in place is asking for an accident to happen imho.
Work slow, work safe.

Yeah, had planned to remove spring but I presume other than that (and assuming bolts not stuck fast in bushes) it should be reasonably straightforward? The new bushes are split but will try the c-clamp method to get old ones out.

Rusted bolts will be the decider, closely followed by how well the old bushes have taken to the inner bore of the swingarm.
I replaced like for like, but had it all out (so to speak)
