Help with tracker- 103-RS REWIRE SECURITY

Post by Iridium »

Can anyone help with sending the tracker an SMS. I'm following the instructions in the manual but with no luck.

Trying to set up a movement alarm. The manual reads: when 103-RS stays immobile in a place for 3-10 minutes with GPS signal reception you can send SMS "move+password+space+0200". This will set up a movement alert with an area radius of 200 meters. It then gives an example of what you should text:

move- is the command
123456- is the default password
0200- is 200 meters

Therefore

move123456 0200

But it doesnt work. I have credit on the SIM and a GPS signal. Can anyone who has one of these or a similar system help.

Regards.

I had a strange experience with mine; I can't communicate with it via my mobile, but it works when I text it from my work mobile. Speaking to the Rewire helpline, they said this can sometimes happen depending on network - that said both phones are on Vodafone.

So, in short, try again with another mobile.

I've succeeded in getting the move command to work by using another network.

Adeybruce was along the right lines.

I'm on Orange and some of the trackers SMS commands work, some dont.

I borrowed a Vodaphone and the move command works perfect.

Chuffed that it works but not happy that I've gotta use a separate phone now for the tracker.

Your van should have it's own phone, it is old enough now.

Rewire security have a smartphone app with all of the commands pre programmed. Obviously no good if your phone isn't smart though. This will just create and send the commands in behind the app so just the same as having to compose each every time via txt so would probably still not work with the other simm (not sure why that is?)

Give my van a smartphone and it would start ordering parts from Brickwerks.

It's a good idea to have the same network in the tracker as your phone. Most providers don't charge for texts / calls to the same network. GiffGaff certainly work like that. My tracker came with a GiffGaff simcard, and by luck that's what was on my fonepad. Perfick! :ok
