Hi All,
I need some help please. I removed my gearbox to replace the clutch assembly on my 1990, T3 Syncro (South Africa). Whilst out I also replaced the bushes on the gear linkage. After assembly the whole lot again, I cannot engage the low / crawl gear - it was working perfectly beforehand. I did not do any work on the gearbox, other than replacing the oil. All the other gears are selecting fairly easily, similar to before the work carried out.
When I try to engage the low / crawl gear it only "grinds" as if I am trying to engage the gears without using the clutch (vehicle idling).
Any advise would be appreciated.
Can not engage "Crawl" gear???

My guess is the linkage isn't set correctly. It's very sensitive and needs to be meticulously set up.

Re: Can not engage "Crawl" gear???
if G gear was selectable prior to the work being done then I'd say rebleed the clutch as the lowest gear(s) show up input drive issues the most - the new clutch won't have any slip in it so needs full disengagement to work, sometimes even requiring pedal adjustment to get it all
if you can easily get reverse but not G then I'm a little perplexed as they share a synchro and are the same ratio, unless g gear is damaged by running against the hub - what was the magnet like ?

I would first try the clutch, it felt a bit low to me! Should it engage when the car is not idling?
