A bit like this engine project! I have been all over the bus-projekte webshop and they seem to sidestep the small matter of starter motors when it comes to buying their bellhousing adaptor plates for the T3 (petrol or diesel are available)
I have had a super-fast response from WOSP but having done a bit more measuring, I am concerned that even their tiny Denso starters will not clear the flange on the UN1
It's a royal PITA and I am not paying 850 yoyos for a UN1-to-EJ bellhousing, only to have to adapt that onto the 025 case!
Which brings me to the inevitable conclusion that I may have to pattern my own bellhousing and have one cast at our favourite foundry. One that puts the starter centrally above the transmission (not a problem in a 2wd) where it WILL clear; another option being to move the starter outwards a bit to allow a larger 240mm clutch from a quattro etc but this will need a new flywheel too.
