seat toledo mk1 2.0l/ vw gti

Post by green thing »

Can anyone tell me if these are the same engines. I was talked into replacing the flat 4 in my crewcab with the seat engine( code 2E) which i was lead to believe was the same as the gti. But 18 months on i`ve been left scratching my head now its time to connect the wiring and, can`t seem to find a wiring diagram for the seat anywhere and gti`s of the same age all seem to be 1.8 not 2.0l. There aren`t too many wires to connect but i am really crap at auto electrics and need fairly idiot proof instructions. If anyone can offer any pointers or information it would be much appreciated.

The 2E engine is a GTi and similar to the AGG. However the wiring may be different.

Have a look on this (German) website - http://2e-im.vw-bus.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks, i`ll check tomorrow to see if the wires from the ecu correspond. Mine is an early type without the obd port but hopefully they just added a few wires on later models.

If the wiring is causing you a headache, SyncroAndy or Elvis will make you one up, at a cost

Thanks, I might have to do that. The bloke who sold me the idea and said he`d help me to get it running turned up about a week ago. The engine is from a toledo mk1 but the loom, ecu is from a 1.8 gti. He did some of the wiring and said there`s not much more to do but it doesn`t look close to me and now i can`t get hold of him again. It`s very frustrating, my already rusty pick up has just been sitting there getting worse. I`m getting pressure from my landlord and if it isn`t mot`d in a couple of weeks I`ll have to sell it as it is.
