Autosleeper Trooper Pop Top Colour

Post by bmouthboyo »

Hi Guys,

Last summer I had my van sprayed back to the original L90D after a previous owner slapped god knows what all over with a paintbrush.

This summer I am looking to sort the pop top roof out so have a few questions:

1) What colour would the pop top roof have been originally?
2) What is the best way to paint fiberglass? Can you rustoleum roller it easily?
3) Would it be easiest / best to T cut back to the pop top original paint or sand?
4) What colour would you recommend for the van? Some people seem to think it looks better if a different shade than the L90D.

Cheers

Autosleeper would have had the top painted the same colour as the van.
The roof can be painted in the same sort of paint as the van, I would use a GRP undercoat for the roof.

In my opinion, L90D is a nice colour white, slightly creamy and warm.
VW colours always look good on VW's.
As for changing the colour I would consider a two tone scheme, then you don't have to paint the insides as well.

I went from a block colour to a two tone, it looks much better.

Cheers fella.
I tried to create an optical illusion.
The idea was to draw your eye away from the high top.
Making it look part of the van.

Looks good rev!

I have had the body sprayed L90D but didnt ask for the poptop as needed to keep costs down.

Do you think I should go L90D with poptop also? If so I have rustoleum from when I was going to roller the van but ran outa time and went spray instead. The paint was colour matched to L90D so should hopefully be OK.

Would rollering the poptop be a pain in the a@@?
