just had the same issue, for reference the engine came with a 14mm heliciol badly fitted and the 16mm citreon plug worked for 4 oil changes( this has a flat top and an inset square drive) that failed this week and I feared the worst, however as a last shot before a strip and rebuild I bought a 17mm kit from fleabay marketed as 'Neilsen' this has the same head diameter as the citreon plug and comes with a 17mm tap and 6 plugs with female hex drive and washers. this has been a complete success thankfully.

P.S. I did grease the tap well to catch the swarf, and make sure that the tap is square to the hole as angled hole may make the head of the plug catch on the recessed casting socket. HTH
