T25 1.9DG Popping /Backfire Help

Hi guys ,

I have an issue with my 1.9dg t25 engine

I have changed the following
plugs
leads
dizzy cap
set timing
rebuilt carb checked jets

this is how its running currently . not my engine but the same fault

Im heading down the route of hydraulic lifters tonight to see if its a stuck open valve

Has anybody experienced this before ?

Shed some light please so I can go camping soon

mine was running something like that today,the top gasket had split and some of it was missing,could not a replacement so the father in law put some sealant on it,it is going to Campershack tomorrow for bits and bobs another job for Andrew to hopefully have time for,running hugely better now just hope I will get to Grantham ok

Do a compression check to be sure about valves.

Could be over fueling if the main gasket has failed or the floar chamber valve has failed.

yes mine stank of petrol,still smells very rich

You can check the valve operation by simply removing the rocker cover, then getting a pal to rotate the engine.
