How to replace alarm siren

Post by chriscburgess »

OK I know someone is going to tell me not to discuss my alarm system here but I have little choice as I need some info.

I have a Clifford where the siren has just stopped working. No chirps. No siren . Nothing! It gradually got worse and worse. Originally it sounded like it was immersed in water (it is mounted under the front bumper area). Now there is no noise whatsoever from it.

The immobiliser part of the kit still works fine.

So my question is two-fold a) are they simple to replace? Do I just disconnect the wiring and wire it to a new one?

and

b) where can I get one from? Will any siren do or does it have to be a Clifford? They seem to be about £70 which seems a hell of a lot for just a siren.

Many thanks
Chris

if it just has two wires feeding it , and isnt a actual part of the alarm itself, then you somply need to check the working voltage, and check if it is a siren or just a speaker ( i suspect it maybe a speaker) and then you can replce with any that are the correct voltage, and impedence .

if its part of the alarm itself, its genuine only i would think
