Disabling petrol engine
Sorry for posting in general, wasn't sure where best to ask.
What is the quickest way of disabling a petrol engine so it can't be started? I'm thinking something I can unplug or take off the engine quickly and easily. That can also be replaced just as easily?
And u don't just want to disconnect the battery.
Thanks in advance.

Fabulous. Thank you.
Petrol engines are new to me.
Just wanted to check, if someone did try to start it without a rotor arm in, would it cause any damage, or literally just do nothing?

King lead from dissy - and take it with you x
Putting diesel in does a pretty good job too...but I wouldn't recommend it!

Re: Disabling petrol engine
That doesn't put people off breaking into your van to try and start the engine. An obvious physical barrier like an additional steering lock should put off most toerags, before they break your lock or window to get in.

Re: Disabling petrol engine
Thank you for all the suggestions.
I will be implementing some as security measures (particularly those sent via pm).
I originally asked as I do the maintenance on a friends new camper and at various times I'm doing things that would be best if it wasn't moved. I can tell her not to start it but things don't always sink in.
The security knowledge is an added bonus.

The camper I've had for 10 years is a diesel. I've done most things to it including putting in a new Diesel engine.
It's just these weird petrol things I'm starting to learn about. It's just had a new engine put in by the seller. It's other things I'm tweaking. I could easily immobilise a Diesel engine.

Re: Disabling petrol engine
I long ago ditched the silly rev-limiting rotor arm for a regular bug rotor arm.

Switched covert 12V siren on line that powers up when ignition is on. I have a similar thing and regularly embarrassed by it due to having patina of the brain!
A brave thief could probably drive it away using ear plugs though.
