Another insulation question!
Hi,
Won't be long now until my new interior is here, but while I prep for the big day I have a couple of questions about insulation and sound deadening.
Firstly, does anyone have any recommendations for insulation? I have looked around but there's quite a few choices and I can't bring myself to click the buy it now button!
Secondly, is it recommended to add sound deadening panels? I have a high top Autohaus Komet so unsure whether they would make any difference.
Thanks in advance.

I have double bubble insulation in mine - was fitted when I had the interior done:

Believe it's the same as this here:

Re: Another insulation question!
No problem - whilst everything is out & you fit it, give the panels and nooks & crannies a coating of Waxoyl or Dynax S50

Re: Another insulation question!
As Justin says - grab a couple of cans of waxoyl spray and get a load in there, particularly along the bottoms. I used the same as this to replace the rockwool the previous owner had filled the voids up with - I then added a further layer of the bubble wrap sandwiched between the metalwork and the lining panel. There is other more expensive stuff with a self adhesive backing which probably does a better job of sound deadening such as this stuff:

not sure it is any better thermally though

Re: Another insulation question!
I did it as above with the twin foil bubble, I also lined the backs of all panels and the hightop as well.
Does it really make much difference.?
Hell yes it does!! when camping alongside friends in an un-insulated T5, they had their heater on flat out whilst I was laying there in my pants with the covers off, the covers off I tell you.

Hi Chris, just seen this - I can't give you a before and after as got the interior done when I bought it, but it was certainly warm enough when I went away in it.

Re: Another insulation question!
I've got none in mine at all, but we've never been cold sleeping in her, most night we sleep with the sliding door open a bit. That also helps a little with the condensation. Although I think in still going to give it a go

Re: Another insulation question!
Waxoyl goes in before or after self adhesive insulation goes on panels? Does it stick to waxoyl?

Re: Another insulation question!
Waxoyl down the bottom of the cavity where the water will gather then stick the insulation above. If the bottom of the insulation doesn't stick, it doesn't matter then.
Don't forget a vapour barrier too though.

Winchweight do you mean a plastic barrier behind every interior panel?

Re: Another insulation question!
Yes mate, and tape up holes. Any exposed metal will be sopping with condensation in the morning. Vapour from exhaled breath and cooking will get behind your panels and condense if it makes it to bare metal. Some people mistakenly use the glass fibre type insulation and after just a year it will be waterlogged.
