That's more like it! I'll order some of those in then. I like Farnell - free next day delivery.

Yep

Maybe the trade thing is a restriction for planning purposes on the physical stores (I.e. not general retail) but that doesn't apply to mail order.

Forget that - they only have one store I think, in Leeds.

Haha, yes, maybe we're tackling a problem that doesn't exist. Maybe there's a ready supply of genuine replacements somewhere.

Try gower and lee and bromyard vw otherwise you may have to buy a second hand carb and salvage the part as I did.

Well I'd say it's worth dropping them an email, they will either have a solution ( which may be just a supply of scrap carbs) or if not they will be interested in what you are doing I'm sure.

Here's a video of the part being printed...

http://vid221.photobucket.com/albums/dd ... AFAE3C.mp4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here it is in situ. It's a bit tight next to the upright for the pushrod socket, but otherwise it seems ok. I'll need to compare the geometry to the original part, and try it mounted in a carb with the corresponding linkages, but it should only need a few little tweaks I think.

I managed to catch my mate and his Ultimaker 2 between jobs. Good job too - some of his prints take 19 hours. This one only took 40 minutes.

I checked the geometry against a good unbroken part - it was almost there, just needed a couple of tweaks. So here's what I hope is the final version. Some bits shaved down, some corners rounded off, an obvious blunder corrected (I had divided 9.5 in two and come up with 4.25), and a 0.5mm recess for up to a 10mm washer in the top, just to make sure that the part remains free to turn when the rivet is pulled up tight. I've opened up the centre hole a fraction for the same reason.

PS Wasted a lot of time trying to emboss the logo into the surface.... :roll:
