Hi all I know I'm just new to this so bear with me. Not only New to this site but just got my first van.I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a couple of questions.I have a 1.6diesel 1984 t25 non turbo watercooled would 15 to40 oil be satisfactory for my van ?I was in halfords and they said it was 5 to 40 but didn't think this was right.also my van pulls
Great hills are no problem I can even get up hills in second and third but when on motorway van sounds like it should have a 5th gear.sounds like its screaming at 60.can this be an easy fix it should I just stay at 50 and not push it so to speak. Lol.reaches 60 really fast aswell.lol Any help would be really appreciated.
Yes 15w/40 mineral.
You will want to change gear, if you did have a fifth it would just bog.
When it is screaming you have reached maximum warp....back off and slow down.
Get used to the slow progression or upgrade to a turbodiesel.
Just accept that 50-55 is the best you are gonna get and sit back, enjoy the view that everyone else doesnt get to appreciate, and feel smug at the great mpg (for a t25)

15W 40 or 10W 40 oils are fine but go for one that says its primarily for a diesel (most oils say 'also' suitable for)
You will probably find that a N/A 1.6 on standard wheels will be on or near the red line at just over 70mph. All of the standard engine options are 'under powered, the N/A 1.6 is the slowest of them all. Nothing wrong with that but look at sensible cruise speeds of around 55mph.
PS I wouldn't say my van was slow it's actually quite nippy do you think if I got bigger wheels would take revs down slightly and be able to sit at 60 satisfactory ?just an idea
I wouldn't go back to 14" put it that way. Tyres are cheaper when you go to 15" or 16" as there are more to choose from.
That sounds exactly the right way to go then .I'm thinking 16 on it.would they just fit straight on or do I need to MOD anything.sorry for my lack of knowledge but I have just got into this game and own my first t25.
Bear in mind the wheels have to be right in terms of the bolt spacing, the centre bore, the offset of the wheel centre relative to the wheel rim and the load bearing strength of the wheel. See info in the wiki and on the brickyard about wheels.
