Coolant hose/sytem questions/overhaul steps

God damn that is tough...

Led the new stainless items down next to the old ones so that I can make sure I know the orientation of the new pipes.
New ones come in 2 halves each rather than each one being a complete section, and the front two - although look similar - are varying in length.



Because it is FREEZING out at the moment, I put any hoses on a radiator in the house that were not on the van. I had the thought that it would make them more supple to work with.

First pipe goes in easy enough above the tank, but the second either hits the floor of the van, or the top of the tank.
You can't rotate the second one enough to guide it through, when the first pipe is already in, no matter which one you put in first and irrespective how long you waste mincing about wiggling and twisting it.

So.....

You guessed it.... Tank out

Next, when you insert the new stainless items over where the tank sits - when the tank is in place that is - make sure you keep the feed to the radiator on the right hand side when looking toward the front of the van from the rear...

This is because the feed / return hoses from the radiator have a natural orientation of being in position that way round.



Once the front two steel pipes are in you can then put the rear ones in place ( Using the rubber hoses that come in the kit to connect them together near the centre position. )



The rear steel pipes must pass over the offside rear brake line too.




Oh - one tip at this stage - before you connect hoses to steel pipes, make sure you put the clips on over the hose or pipe before you push the pipes home into the rubber/silicone hoses. If you don't, you will only need to separate them again to get the clips on.

It is a good idea to not do any clips up yet as per the pictures. You will probably need to twist the pipes rotationally a tad to get a good seating position before you do them up, so do all that first and then do the clips up.

This is as far as I have got today, so the rest is going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Not much time to spend on the van today, I have a million and one things to do, but began nipping up coolant hose straps etc.
Went to connect some of the wires to the sensors, and discovered I have `mis-placed` one of these..



When I say `mis-placed` I really mean it isn't where I left it, but there is a nice tidied area that I wasn't the last person to frequent.!!!

Are these a generic item that are used elsewhere, or am I going to have to buy a new sensor?
( They go on the red and black sensor/switch - what ever they are - on/in the thermostat housing. They hold the wires/connector to them and kind of clip around the connector/sensor. )

Kinda know what the answer will be, but thought I would ask anyway.

It's the 14th..!!! Now I understand the frosty atmosphere in the house....

I think those links are for the clips that hold the sensors into the thermostat housing.
I need the ones that hold the wire/connector from the loom to the sensor.

Worst case it will be cable ties again
