Re: Rev Counter Wiring Help
Blade or bullet fuses on yours? 85 and it could be either.
If its bullet I'd still wire from fusebox as its quick to do.

If you want to be sure, take the fuse out, then use your multimeter to see which side is live with the ignition on. The side which is still live when the fuse is removed is the unfused side, so if you take your feed from there you should put an inline fuse in the wire that goes to the tacho. The side which is not live when the fuse is removed is the fused side, so you can take your feed to the tacho from here without having to put an inline fuse in - it would be protected by the fuse in the fusebox. But take care, if the current draw of the tacho is significant you may be overloading that fuse. I have no idea how much current a tacho draws.

Re: Rev Counter Wiring Help
Ofcourse I'm sure. Bottom rail in fusebox is power from battery, takeoffs at top.

Perfect keet, I will try to get some pixs up soon.
Re: Rev Counter Wiring Help
For my van from the 14 pin connector, the green wire is the rev counter feed, the black one next to it is the 12v ignition feed and the red/grey one at the end of the block is the dash light feed. The other wires from the rev counter are earths if it is like mine so just connect to the body at a convenient location.

Re: Rev Counter Wiring Help
It is yes, but on most vehicles without a rev counter (particularly early ones) VW didn't fit a complete loom in which case all you can do is run a new cable underneath. Thats what I had to do.

Re: Rev Counter Wiring Help
On the later fuseboard there are plenty of spare permanent & ignition switched live terminals.
A tacho doesnt need fuse protection, its a tiny current impulse from the 12v side of the coil.
No need for splicing in (butchering) at the ignition switch.
LPG fitters are you listening/learning?
