All done and dusted Pete.
I used Renzosil on the gaskets (sparingly) to make sure they didnt leak again.

Have the injectors arrived OK? And do you know where we are at with the loom?

Old news!
Andy is on the loom afaik, following a few Q about extra wires for the oil pressure/temp senders and fan switching etc.

I should have a fresh efi pump arriving tomorrow...

I nearly got into trouble wheeling it out of the engine assembly room... it wouldnt go through the door with the bellhousing and starter on, even when turned through 90 degrees.
Once outside the test exhaust went on and I managed to confuse myself again with ignition feeds, permanent live while checking for the fuel pump priming pulse (with a duff bulb..) etc etc

The penny dropped just as I was locking up. Of course!

I'm just admiring your build. Looks very smart... But I must add........
Are you going to use those old VW Clamp Hose Clips? Hope you are going to clean up those double pipes that feed over the clutch housing. Finishing touches are what makes a job 'done'.

Doing a bit of transplanting over here this week and we've come up with a couple of interesting points about our 2.5 project car.
Despite it's larger capacity, oil and water temperature have remained constant. I'm going to reduce the thermostat to 80'c, 7'c lower just to give a bit more space but really only for the Southern Countries.

Fuel economy is remarkably the same if not a bit better now. The only adjustment needed was to weaken the fuel delivery on Idle. The 2.5 makes the air flow meter deliver more than it really needs. Seems settled now.

Lastly, those old VW/Bosch Starters aren't up to the job of cranking over a 2.5. We've had a special 1.5hp motor built for the unit which is quite a bit smaller than the original and turns the 2.5 over with vigor. You might want to consider this modification.

Engine Number 2 is now build and goes to the key on Wednesday. Not expecting anything accept pure Wbx

Have fun firing her up!.... Is always a nice moment. Life.

The water pipes are just for testing. Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't mess around with paint. I am an engineer, not a decorator...

I have just seen 55psi oil pressure at idle :D

Is B25WBX available?

Engine ran for about 5 mins, full of Comma G30 (unpressurized)
I gave it a few blips on the throttle, returned to idle ok, solid 50 psi oil pressure. No leaks.

The fuelling system was a lash up but it worked well enough to colour the headers.

I'm happy.
So off came the loom, hoses, airbox, exhaust and it gets drained down ready to deliver.

Final invoice being prepared, now that it's drained and wrapped. Just need to paint the cooler enclosure, all your unused spares are boxed up.

(breathes a sigh of relief)

Better get started on #2... might just get the Oetti done first, that should be pretty quick (in more ways than one!)

Slight aside...I was considering selling the Weber 32/34 and modified manifold that I have on my own syncro, being as I find myself returning to the joys of simple efi (starts first time, every time!)

https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 9#p7867629" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, it now occurs to me that this very LT 2.4 conversion carb setup would make for a much simpler fuel delivery system when testing a bare "long block" 2.5 engine...

Unless anyone wants to convince me otherwise with a modest wad of crisp printed linen ;)

Nice one Ian. I will contact you about the practicalities - not sure where Friday went to!

I need to think about oil temp and pressure gauges. And we did have a discussion about Lambda a while back as well...

Also need to think about start motor and new EFI fuel pump and mounting for it the right place for the first time on this bus!
