Propex and drive

I fitted a vehicle-in-motion bracket to my Propex, with the exhaust mounted closer to the rear of the vehicle (on the left, in this photo of the offside of my van), as per the instructions.



So when in motion, the inlet is drawing from clean 'upstream' air. I think the configuration also aims to ensure that the airflows remain balanced, which wouldn't necessarily be the case if one of the pipes was facing into the airflow for instance.

When stationary, the exhaust gases, coming out with some speed, would have to follow a very unusual path to get sucked back into the inlet.

No problem on the move.

Mine works on the move too. Both my pipes terminate under the van, facing rearwards, same length and about a foot apart.

However, one of the technicians advises that the inlet pipe be rerouted so its sucking air from the interior rather than outside. This then means the Propex isn't having to heat up freezing cold air continually

I wonder, if the burner air is coming from the (cold) outside, would it degrade the performance of the burner, or maybe enhance it?
Cold air is denser, so provides more oxygen, making for better combustion (same as with an engine).

How does this work on the older propex ie compact 1600 as inlet is around outlet.

I don't think that the intake of exhaust would make much difference to the combustion in the heater.

problem is a sensor in the intake of the unit which shuts it down if exhaust gases are present in intake

I rang them up and the answer was you can use it on the move with the vehicle in motion bracket, but not without. I asked about them being 500mm apart previously and no real answer.

For me I'm going the old school route, opposite sides of the van, exhaust being on the non sliding door side, and carry on regardless.
