My T25 failed it's MOT on following:
offside back and front brake hose ferrule excessively corroded, what is a hose ferrule and how do I go about changing it?
Couldn't check emissions because the engine isnt idling properly. The engine definitely needs attention, i was going to look at that after the MOT. There is a slight misfire and is idling way to high. I was going to start by changing the plugs, check ignition, check clearances and looking at the timing.

I'm trying to which rear flexi hose to buy for the rear. I checked underneath and it seems a lot longer, does anyone know which one I need as there seems to be different sizes?

Thats normal motortrade protocol. Might seem strange but without it, the entire thing would soon grind to a halt or else the costs to owners would rise massively. A high degree of trust runs between good mechanics and testers to ensure the work is done. In my experience the only time this isn't the case (and quite rightly) is when an owner brings a vehicle in for test who has clearly done nothing to the vehicle since the last test, or the tester doesn't have full confidence that the vehicle will be repaired to a high standard. Most MOT testers I know hate vehicles like that and are accordingly strict on everything - for the driver's safety and other road users including pedestrians.
My tester knows immediately if I've done any work underneath and we discuss items that although might be deemed a pass, may not prove to be in the near future. Most of the time I'm ahead of him and I like it that way. Makes the test a lot more fun.
For instance, very slight wear on the inside of a tyre could still mean the vehicle passes (by the book) but the owner should have spotted it and remedied the front wheel geometry or else the tester should flag it up for concern. A numpty owner might miss it otherwise and suddenly find grip in the wet a few months later is impaired or the tyre is close to being shredded.
