Why is my sliding window still leaking?!

Post by Mooms »

So about a fortnight ago we fully replaced all the seals in our sliding window, including sliding seal, vertical window seal and actual window to van seal.

Just checked after the rain last night and the bladdy thing has leaked again! The leak is in pooling in the inside slider of the door. :o

Checked all around the outside and there is no other leak apart from the bit in this window sill. There's no leak coming in from around the frame itself so we are super confused :?:

Anyone had a similar problem? How did you remedy it? The van is currently up on jacks so didn't know if this could be causing the problem. He obviously needs to be dry before we put anything back in/ flooring down...

It went back in the way it came out if that helps

I've been searching the wiki section to no avail... This window seems to be different to those I've seen on most other sliders - I'm guessing it's because it's original /early?

Erm, where do I find these? We gave it a pretty good clean before putting it all back in

in the actual metal frame that the window slides in there should be some small drain holes. They do get blocked. Mine has a couple drain holes anyway.

Obvious I know but get someone to shower the window with a hose to try and pinpoint it.

Factory windows or cut panel van?
The Caravelle ones were sealed where the horizontal runners meet the frame with clear sealant, it does lift with age.

Ok this is where water has come in today, although it has been pooling in the aluminium bit (inside) this is a factory window, it's a caravelle :)

Just seen this :( I'll see if I have a pic in the archive, the water was pooling in the inside aluminium bit, but seems to be seeping between the rubber and the frame
