brake light failure

anyone got any ideas why the brake lights have both suddenly failed , bulbs ok . is there a fuse maybe or a wire that tends to go perhaps ? thanks jonny

Could simply be a bad earth under the dash, on the nearside A pillar; They often fur up in the colder, damper months. Theres a section in the wiki. Or, quite possibly the switch(s), which are located in the master cylinder under the steering wheel. Check the connections to them and if still not working then swap one or both. Quick fingers and a well placed rag and you'll barely loose any fluid.

locate the switch in the master cylinder and bridge out the connections, if its the switch they will work when the two spadeconnectors are "shorted"

cheers guys did as suggested and it seemed that shorting out the two wires made the brake lights come on hence its the switch so one now ordered and again thaNKS

if you change the switch quick you won't have to bleed the brakes
