Elec hook up

Post by kentishvanman »

Hi,
Has anyone replaced their 240v Consumer Unit?
I want to change mine; 5amp/10amp: to 6amp/ 16amp. Existing one is nearly 30 years old (1988 Autosleeper)and the test button is dodgy.
Problem: All the new units are bigger than the existing one. It is 6'' x 4'' x 3'' and fits nicely. New one will probably have to go elsewhere.
The smallest I can find is a Castlec brand one. I have never heard of them and I usually stick with known makes when it comes to elec. equipment.
Anyone got any thoughts/comments. Thanks
Don

I've got one of these.

At 140mm x 110mm x 86mm (5.5" x 4.3" x 3.4") it's quite compact - just a fraction wider than your current one. It's not a brand I know, but I fitted it a couple of years ago and it's worked fine - no problems so far.
