Non VW. Identify this silencer?

Post by Hoopy_Frood »

Image

This is from a custom exhaust thay came off our C-max. The flexi pipe was split and it was cheaper to buy a new exhaust than to get a new flexi pipe section. Can anyone identify the type of silencer that is on it? (the conical looking part)

I'm sure I saw something very similar on an episode of Wheeler dealers, but I can't find anything like it online. I need funds to repair my van (don't we all) and wondered if it might be worth selling). The whole system made a nice sound, although wasn't exactly what a c-max might normally sound like.

Thanks

A bike silencer??

Oh dear, I guess I shouldn't be surprised really. The car has been nothing but trouble since I bought it and every mechanical brings up evidence of yet another bodge.

That is a cat with exhaust welded on, looks more like mk2 focus performance pipe, is common mod for C-Max our one had similar but was too noisy so put a standard system on and sold it on f0rd forum.

Cat or expansion type silencer (all depends on whether it has a ceramic monolith inside of it) welded to a motorbike rear silencer.

I can see a CAT behind it on the manifold/front pipe.
