Can I pick your collective brains??
I have a 58 reg F o r d Cmax with a 1.8 Duratorq diesel engine (44,00 miles), I have owned it for 2 years and had on going issues with it randomly cutting out, having had it code read it came up with an injector fault, the injector was replaced with a recon Siemens injector by a local garage, cleared the fault codes and it ran well for 6 month ish.
Early 2015 it cut out in the middle lane of the M6 with the same error code on another injector, after not wanting to believe it was another injector I had it replaced by the same garage. All was well for 3000 miles good performance etc. Last Friday it cut out again, took into the garage to have it MOTed today and mentioned the cutting out again, another injector fault code, different injector.
The injectors are costing me £370 each time they are replaced, the car is in good condition, well maintained, it is a daily drive with a 20 mile A road commute. The fuel filter was replaced after the first injector, it was dirty, it was checked again after the second, all clean this time. I normally use Esso/BP fuel not supermarket stuff if that makes any difference.
What makes an injector fail?? The wife's 03 Renault has done 150,000+ miles on the same injectors.
Is it common to have more than one go in a short period of time/miles.
The garage I use is next door to where i work and I talk directly to the owner/mechanic, he has too much to lose by ripping me off as he gets a good bit of business though my work.
Thanks
