Leaking Westfalia rear window?

Post by Richmo »

Hey guys, my Westy rear window is leaking like a sieve! When inside the water is running out from the rubber at the bottom and tracking down into the bottom of the tailgate. Any ideas how to fix this please? Image

I'd have thought use some windscreen sealant on the outside, the stuff that never dries

We have the same issue. Why not change the seals and be sure to use OEM VW no after market. If that fails then yes a thin bead of non setting sealant.

We are tracing our leak and I just changed the tail gate seal, which didn't work, so window seal is next.

I've just had exactly the same. When I cut out the old window seal to replace it, I found that the corner of the window aperture had rusted out thanks to all the water collecting there. Hopefully you'll have caught yours a bit sooner, but be prepared to get a repair done!

I got my window rubber from VW Emporium and it seems excellent quality, but not tried fitting it yet as I need to either repair or replace the double glazed unit first as the inner skin is distorted and cracked.

Just had the bodywork done, but the inside top lip of the tailgate was rotten so this must have been going on for years, only just noticed it now im putting it back together inside and its really pouring in mind! I'll order up the seal and hope that sorts it cant see that its anything else to be fair though
