Going Black
My van is in need of help, two rear side windows were in such a bad state when I bought it,it was more like a China made barbeque than a VW made steel. It was so bad I decided to do away with them and simply tin up, my problem now is this damned weather, I can't get to work with my new compressor so I bought a few cans of Black out of poundland. The factory colour is Marsalalot red but a black T25? Anyone got one? Any chance of a photo!
Thanks in advance Eddie

Bah! I thought this was going to be about the minstrels.
VW never did a black T25, I saw one at a show once, and, on here the reverend pimp daddy had one but IMHO they looked wrong, mainly because the T25's black bits are it's "chrome" highlights.. each to their own though.
It's Marsala red
available at any paint shop/internet shop in a can.

Re: Going Black
Yes VW did offer black paint. I took a load of parts off a late factory black DoKa a while back.
Defo not a respray and not a Tristar, I have seen at least two of those in black too.

Re: Going Black
Maybe it doesn't actually look "wrong". Personally, I am opposed to the idea of painting a T25 black because there are so many black cars out there and the T25 is one of the very few vehicles you can paint in practially every colour there is and it still looks ok. Imagine an Audi, BMW or Mercedes in bright green, baby-blue, orange, beige etc. That would look horrible. That why almost all of them are black, grey, silver or white. Besides, I am particularly fond of Marsala-red because that's the colour of my doka

Cheers, André

Re: Going Black
Gloss back is a pig to keep looking clean and shows every single ding and dent - bear it in mine. Some of my family drove Hackney Carriages and black is high maintenance in my experience.

That's what the nice lady at carworld which is part of Walkingshaw VW wrote on top of the tub of paint I had mixed. VW H3D/L I bought there, mind I must admit I think I gave her a bad day they didn't have enough of one of the pigments to make up a litre. There's two shades of this too and I bet I choose the wrong one
Wrote off the idea of going black gloss as someone reminded me it can be an hard colour to keep clean and as my little red van had been stood for goodness knows how long the red bits still look OK, I now plan on going back to my original idea, as the red oxcide isn't protecting the new tin as I had hoped it would, I will use the tins of matt black poundland car paint, then cover this with some more red oxcide till I get the air line I need for my new Aldi compressor and the weather picks up. Ironically there's not a lot of shades difference between the Masala red and red oxcide and has most of the work was done to the side's of the van wheel arches X4 rear side windows X2 it looks OK from both front & back ie oncoming traffic and following traffic.

After a visit to Halfords yesterday for a 300ml can of paint for the front wheel arche plus 2.5 litres to have in readyness of the sunshine making an apperance it is Marsalalot red its Swedish which got me thinking was it the late 80's when at midnight one night Sweden went from RHD to LHD vehicals? I wonder if mine was intended for Sweden?
I didnt get the 2.5 litres they cant sell it in that amount, it has to be ether 300ml airesols or 100ml bottels its only metalic paints which they are allowed in litre quantitys so I am now looking for a dark red metalic colour which is very close to my Swedish Marsalalot red ?
