1.9dg and 2.1dj exhausts.....the same or different?

Post by youthy giblets »

I've just taken a Vw speed shop stainless steel exhaust system
Off a van, will it fit on a 1.9dg or are they different?

The 2.1 and 1.9 engines have the same heads, so the exhaust should fit either. There are differences between VW's early and late exhaust systems, in that the late system needs hanger brackets and the early system doesn't. The system currently sold by Speedshop doesn't use the VW hangers, so will fit either. But I can't say whether earlier versions of the Speedshop exhaust used the hangers or not. I don't think they did, and even if they did, you can get the hangers separately.

Might be worth you posting a photo of the system just to be on the safe side. Do you know for sure it's a Speedshop system?
