Has anyone had their MSA15 ECU remapped? thats the old single plug ECU with the MAP sensor built inside, used on early AFN's etc.
I've socketed my ECU and have written the original flash to the new chips, but I'm looking for a source of good remapped files. There's someone selling remapped chips on ebay but I don't need chips from bulgaria, only files. No-one seems to work with these old ECU's any more.
Dave.

Bhodgkiss, is a forum name of a guy on many of the vw/tdi forums. He has chipped his afn and has offered his help chipping other members. (He's on tdiclub for sure and also passatukforum I think)
You you just google search 'chip afn'' and search through the forum hits you'll find him commenting on threads. Not sure if he will do the early afn's though..As for a company, you could ask kermatdi. They sell files for the later tdi's so may for the early ones? Darkside developments may be able to help too?

Thanks Lloydy,
I'll hunt him down and drop him a PM, hopefully he can help.
As a sidenote, I did some experimentation with my spare ECU and uploaded some remapped binary files from a different ECU for a laugh. The files I put on were from an ECU part number starting 038, when I've looked online it is one of the later 2 plug ECU's that look like an EDC15, but which still have socketed EPROMs.
Despite this, the ECU starts and runs fine, only error it logs is related to the Glow plug lamp being intermittent, even though it works fine.
Have driven 150 miles on that ECU, probably not recommended as I don't have an EGT monitor but I've been very careful not to thrash it. Things I've noticed are;
Starting is much improved, 50% of the time It would take about 5 seconds of solid cranking before it would fire. Now fires right off the button every time.
Power is indeed improved as the map files would suggest, much more drivable.
Vibration around 2000 RPM is reduced.
Fuel economy is worse, dash is indicating 19mpg, think it's more like 30mpg vs the 35-36 on the original ECU.

I have the later 2 plug ECU, strange with your starting issues.. mine almost pre-empts the key turn whatever the weather
Good luck with reprogramming, I'm leaving mine standard.

Calculated my economy today, worked out at 36mpg, not bad really.
