1.6jx Sump
Right Ive been a numpty. Ive over tightened my valve type sump nut on my 1.6 jx and put a bit of oil in and its still leaking. I now can't get the sump nut out. rookie error. i have been told by my mechanic to weld up the sump nut and i will still be able to drain the oil via the filler pipe which is to the right of the sump nut. or buy a new sump. I have been looking for a sump and they are like hens teeth. Has anyone welded up their sump before and suffered any problems after doing it. Or does anyone have any other solutions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

They don't have any in stock, can't really afford to wait too long either.

Re: 1.6jx Sump
I had a similar issue with my 1.9 petrol Sump Plug.
I hammered a smaller size socket / ring spanner and removed it this way. I also replaced the sump bolt with a stickie outie one so I can remove more easily in the future.
Didn't know you could remove the oil via the oil filler neck!
Hope this helps.

What did it cost out of interest? I have what looks like plastic putty covering a hole in mine (previous owner)

Re: 1.6jx Sump
I got it done by a local lad. He worked in a commercial wagon welders. Charged me £20. Bargain I thought. He also welded up the outside. Double protection.
