Hi all, have a 1981t25, about 3 months ago the side lights front and rear and dash lights started to intermittently not work . Now they don't work at all. Initially the intermittent fault was seemingly remedied by rotating the fuses, the headlight switch now does not operate the side lights or dash , but it does operate the main beam as normal , I have replaced the head light switch to no avail . Same issue ! The fuse contacts have been cleaned off me all fuses replaced with new . Still not working , I have also pulled all the spades off the earth behind the fuse box to see if that was cause again still not working , any ideas would be gratefully received , this isvmy daily driver and with the shorter days I am struggling.
Thank you for any suggestions
Andy

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
Losing all the side lights suggests a power supply problem to the switch from the fusebox, the headlights are supplied from a different feed from the ignition switch. Check the red cables above fuses 7/8 or 9 for a poor connection one of those feeds the light switch.

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
Well completed some tinkering wth the electrics
The new switch is getting 12.5 v at both "30" terminals but when the switch is switched there is no power from 58 and 58B terminals.
so will now have to trace the grey wire to the fuse box..... yes please
Thanks again
Andy

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
Hi there,
I don't suppose you have any other ideas. I have replaced both connectors on the switch and also at the fuse box on either end of the grey wire... no change.
I have also removed the earth cluster above the fuse box cleaned all the spades and ensured that it is grounding on the body, have also taken another wire to become an additional ground but again to no avail..
I have also checked all feeds to the fuse box and they appear to be fine with no poor connections
'tis doing my head in....
any further suggestions I can trial
many thanks

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
not to cure it ,but you could hook up a temp feed to one of the side lights and this in turn should feed the others so if they all illuminate then you will know that the wiring and earth is ok to the lights and that just leaves a feed problem

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
Do you still have a live feed at the 30 terminals on the switch when you switch the lights on?

Will double check tomorrow , fairly certain it's all the time , but it may be that the alcohol and good food of the silly season has addled my brain !

Re: Side lights and dash lights not working
Thank you one and all for your suggestions finally got to the bottom of the electrical fault for those interested!
30 pins showed 12.5 v when switch off, 0.17 when switch on.... 58 and 58b pins showed zero when switch off and on ....
Went back to the fuse box , the grey cabling from switch to fuses checked again and All connected fine.. So finally thought to check the live feed to the rear of the fuse boxes again all were solidly mounted but noticed that they sat very close to where the grey wires plugged in , so I pulled them apart and lo and behold sides, dash and number plate light all work . The wires touching were the grey/ reds d I think grey / blue ... ..
So all in all 4 hours of my life used to eventually bend two connectors
